Ailyn Pérez first appeared with LA Opera in the 2006 world premiere of Lee Holdridge's Concierto para Mendez. She returned in 2012 as Mimi in La Bohème, opposite the Rodolfo of her husband, tenor Stephen Costello. The soprano began the 2012/13 season with her house debut at the Bolshoi in Moscow, performing Mimi in La Bohème. Her engagements for the season also include two runs at the Hamburg State Opera, first as the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro and then in the title role of a new production of La Traviata. Recent appearances include the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro at the Ravinia Festival, Covent Garden's Japan tour with Manon and La Traviata, Zerlina in Don Giovanni in Dallas and Manon in Valencia. She also recently performed alongside Mr. Costello in Roméo et Juliette in Philadelphia and Faust in San Diego. She is the 2012 winner of the Richard Tucker Award. (www.AilynPerez.com)
